It doesn’t matter how fresh and good your content is or how great your website looks, if it not user friendly website. According to experts, around 60% of the time users are unable to find out the information they are looking for on websites. Make sure your website is user friendly.
Improve the usability of your website by keeping these few points on your mind:
- Keep the page format very consistent: you have to be very consistent in terms of layouts, visual elements and navigation system also. Use font, colors and design consistently throughout all the web pages of your website.
- Use multimedia sparingly: over use of multimedia can frustrate the busy visitors. It includes meaningless flash animation home pages and the elements on the pages that changes colors, spin, pulsate etc. they can also slow down the page load time. But not all the elements are annoying. Use multimedia sparingly to attract the visitors.
- Use high visible, site wide links: it allows the browsers to navigate through all of your web pages quickly from anyone of the web page. Site wide links must be placed consistently like at the bottom of the page.
- Keep navigation system of your website simple and consistent: if a simple navigation system is not placed consistently at every page, it will frustrate the visitors. Visitors must know where the links are placed in order to use them to navigate your website.
- Make the information easy to access: do not hide the important content of your website behind a sign-up screen.
- Use graphics sparingly: graphics captures the visitor’s attraction but in case of overdone it can act as a distracting element also. Choose graphics carefully and use graphics sparingly.
