Wednesday, June 5, 2013    12:57 pm

SSL is Secure Sockets Layer which is used as a standard security for generating an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. When this link is established, you will have surety that all data passed between the web server and browser will remain protected and private. If you want to enable SSL in your OpenCart website, then this article will help you.

The first step is to get SSL certificate. You have two options for this; a shared SSL certificate or dedicated SSL certificate. A shared SSL certificate means other users also share it with you on the server. While dedicated SSL certificates are not free, you have to purchase it through web hosting company.

You can purchase it from SSL providers. The SSL certificate starts from $125.00/year

There are three areas for enabling SSL. You have to edit the System Settings in the OpenCart Dashboard, config.php file in directory where you have installed OpenCart, and the last one is config.php file in OpenCart Admin folder.

You can enable SSL by login to OpenCart dashboard; it can be done by visiting server tab.

Steps for it:
