Pros and cons of using HTML frames

In HTML(hyper text mark up language), frames are the most important innovation. Frames allow web designers to break the internet browser into pieces and allow unique web content to appear in each piece. Frames add clarity to the websites, if used properly and if they are used improperly then they can also confuse the web surfers. So there are many pros and cons which a web designer must consider:

Pros:

  • Frames simplify the navigation: it is done by not changing the content of one frame while modifying the content of other frame.
  • Frames adds the diversity to the website: website addresses few topics in one frame and can handle a totally different topic in another frame which attracts the users as they can find something new in every frame. So, frames helps to increase traffic for a website.
  • Frames can expand the creative options.
  • Frames allow web browsers to display more than one web page at a time on screen.  Each page has its individual frame, which eliminates the need of web surfers to visit different web pages.
  • Frames separate the marketing and advertising elements.

Cons:

  • Frames are not supported by many old web browsers.
  • Frames are not error free: possibility of committing mistakes increases by using frames like posting wrong content on wrong page, it can irritate the visitors and cause them to leave your website.
  • Sometime frames are difficult to master as it involves many procedures which can confuse the beginning designer.

Frames can be reason to attract more visitors, if used in a proper manner and it can also lead to irritate your visitors if not used properly. So, you should take care of the pros and cons of using frames.
